Band members range in age from 18 to 80 and in experience from amateur to professional. Some of our members haven’t played since high school or college and some are retired professionals. For those that are just starting or returning after awhile, they play the portion of the music they are capable of and continue to build skills each month.Visiting musicians are welcome to sit in on rehearsals. If you play or have played, please consider joining our fun group!

Rehearsals are Monday nights, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the Key Largo School Band Room, MM 105, Oceanside. Our repertoire includes traditional concert band music, popular music, show tunes, and marches.

We play one concert each month (November through April) which is staged outdoors in some of the most beautiful parks in the Florida Keys. Lasting one hour, we entertain with all sorts of music and host local guest artists (such as Burton Handbell Choir, Ukulele Joy, and the Mangrove Swamp Band). Play-along instruments are provided at each concert and fun activities for the whole family make it a unique event. Each concert has a theme and music changes from month to month. The February concert is a local favorite with a Puppy Parade. Bring a picnic basket or bottle of bubbly and relax on a blanket as you watch a lovely sunset and listen to great old-time band music.

The Band is incorporated as a charitable, 501 (c)(3) organization in Florida under the name Florida Keys Community Concert Band. The Monroe County Tourist Development Council has provided funding for advertising and publicity. We have received additional funding from local foundations, such as the Ocean Reef Foundation, Hurlburt Family Foundation, and the Einstein Fund. We gratefully accept donations from individuals. All donations to the Band are tax-deductible. Registration number 31959.

During the school year, Community Band members tutor young music students. With the support of the Ocean Reef Community Foundation and donations at concerts, our Young Musician Award program provides gift certificates for lessons and supplies to students who rehearse and perform with the Band. We also support college bound students who will major in music. Quite often, as adults, these young people return to play with the band.
